Irvine, CA - January 16 - The 2018 Dare To Dream 10 & Under Festival finished yesterday at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, California with two competitive gold medal matches that capped a weekend of positive sportsmanship and big dreams. The largest Dare To Dream field in the history of the event saw two divisions, the Dreamers and the Believers. In the end, it was Vanguard sliding past Commerce in a shootout, 7-6, to claim the Dreamer title with Irvine Kahuna edging Royal 559 Academy 7-6 to win the Believer division. In the bronze medal matches, SOCAL Black got past Trojan 8-3 in the Dreamer division with Costa Mesa Aquatics downing Diablo Alliance 9-4. For complete tournament results, click here.
As for the rest of the action, in the Dreamer division Newport Beach Water Polo earned fifth place with a 10-7 win over Laguna Beach Water Polo and Shore Aquatics doubled up United Water Polo 8-4 for a seventh place finish. In the Believers division Pride Water Polo Academy used a 7-2 win over Foothill to take fifth while Tustin Irvine Patriot Aquatics won 11-4 over Trojan Water Polo Gold for seventh place.
On Sunday a free Splashball clinic was held featuring Olympians Genai Kerr and Jesse Smith. A host of children and their parents took part learning the sport and having fun. Click here to see photos from the event. Throughout the weekend those take part in Dare To Dream were encouraged to share their dreams on the "Dream Wall." By the end of the event, the "walls" were filled with positive messages and encouragement for teammates and fellow clubs.
